Pop-Up Store Bernwardstr.2

At Bernwardstr.2 in Hildesheim there are three stores, one of which used to be a jewelry store but has been sitting empty for a while. As a result, this space was made available to our project "Unlearning the Apparatus" as a temporary rehearsal, performance and exhibition space. We are very grateful for this opportunity. This was made possible through the involvement of Julius Heinicke and Daniel Gad, Institute for Cultural Policy at the University of Hildesheim. Daniel Gad arranged for a meeting between city administrators and Antje Budde, A/IM artistic director and faculty at the University of Toronto. This led to a general agreement and then a rental agreement for June 2026.

Pop-up stores in Hildesheim

In the city of Hildesheim it is possible for artists and socio-cultural activists to temporarily use empty stores in the central part of the city until a new owner or business tentant is found. The rent for such use is very affordable and the collaboration with the two city administrators Wiebke Wrede-Olberg and Eckhard Hofmeister amazingly professional and creative.
