Unlearn the Apparatus - Pre-show urban visionary visit

On June 17, a day before opening, we welcomed a group of national city planner visionaries and administrators, participants of the transfer workshop "Mix or competition?! On living, working and producing in city centers" of the urban development program "Lively Centers" that took place June 16-17, 2026 at the Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum Hildesheim. This event of idea exchange and palpable hands-on project demonstrations was organized by the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development, and Construction (BMWSB) in collaboration with the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR).


We were happy and honored to accommodate the request by Wiebke Wrede-Olberg and Eckhard Hofmeister, who are the facilitators of Hildesheim’s pop-up store program, to use our project to showcase the communal impact and creative impulses that this program generates for the benefit of the city of Hildesheim, supporting both local businesses and the creative cultural sector. After the visit of the urban planners and visionary administrators we were told that our project left a deep and positive impression and that the participants were particularly happy about our friendly bi-lingual project explanations and interactions. Our entire creative team was present and supportive. This was also a fitting event, because our project “Unlearn the Apparatus” was supported by Hildesheim University’s


The city of Hildesheim has a program of pop-up stores to support socio-cultural and artistic projects and institutions. In charge of the downtown space management are two excellent city administrators: Wiebke Wrede-Olberg and Eckhard Hofmeister.
